The Double L Centre was originally built in 1969 and were used as overflow classrooms for Linnvale Primary School. Interestingly the “L” stands for the original internal layout which was shaped like the letter L!
About thirty years ago the classrooms were converted into a community centre and social work premises and the centre was to be for Linnvale residents, but over the last twenty years it has been open to anyone interested in using the centre. Twenty years or so ago the second of the two huts was demolished and the remaining hut was renamed as the Double L Centre. Even though there is limited internal space it has always been well used and has recently had a facelift which included the installation of a new kitchen.
People who wish to use it can either be a user group witch means they have to attend meetings when required by the management committee. Private let’s have a standard fee and are responsible for behaviour of group using premises. There is an AGM once a year with elections open to anyone to join committee.
